The story of this hotel;
There are many places that bear witness to a city's past from past to present. Madame Tadia Hotel is one of them. Madame Tadia moved to Eskişehir from Austria in the 1890s. This very sympathetic old woman ran a hotel that was very popular with foreign and local travelers. This hotel has been a frequent destination for travelers, poets and historians in Eskişehir for a long time. An important name staying at the hotel is Halide Edip ADIVAR, one of our important female writers who wrote her observations between 1918 and 1923 during the War of Independence with an impressive narrative. Adıvar, in his work titled 'Turk's Test with Fire', frequently mentioned both Madame Tadia and her hotel with the following sentences: 'Until 7-8 June, I would read a book in Madame Tadia's room before going to bed and would not extinguish the candlestick. There was no sound in the streets. One day, as soon as I entered my hotel room, I received news from the headquarters. It said that Mustafa Kemal Pasha had reserved a compartment for me in his wagon and that it would depart at half past nine. Then suddenly all the windows started to break. There was shooting from everywhere. There were footsteps. It was as if the Greek army had entered or a new revolution had begun. I went downstairs and saw Madame Tadia. He said that Greek planes dropped bombs on the back of the hotel.' Elliot, a British embassy officer serving in Turkey, mentioned this hotel in his memoirs published in The Times newspaper in 1905: 'In Eskişehir, one has to leave the train and spend the night in a hotel close to the station. However, there is no such initiative as in Eskişehir. A few steps away from the station is a small hotel run by Madame Tadia, even famous for its soups, pastries and milk coffee.' At that time, Madame Tadia became a brand for passengers using the Anatolian railway. We are bringing this historical building, which served in our city 133 years ago, back to life with its modern face.
